"In a recent post, Google revealed a simple yet valuable new option -- the ability to block off time on your calendar to work on a specific task or simply take a moment away. Previously, if you wanted to mark off time on your schedule, you had to schedule a meeting with yourself or use some other workaround. There was no way to simply say, "I need some time to take care of something.""
"To set aside time for something, just click on an open calendar spot and choose "Task." You'll give your task a name and a time, and you can choose a deadline if you want. If you're a Workspace or Education user, you'll be able to take things a step further and choose whether to turn on "do not disturb" and automatically reject meeting requests that overlap with your task timeframe."
Google Calendar adds a Tasks option that lets users block off calendar time to work on a specific task or take a break. Users create a task by clicking an open slot, naming it, setting a time, and optionally adding a deadline. Workspace and Education accounts can enable Do Not Disturb for tasks and automatically reject overlapping meeting invitations. The feature replaces previous workarounds like scheduling meetings with oneself. The rollout began November 6 and is available to Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and personal Google accounts, with full availability expected by early December.
