UC Berkeley student reportedly paralyzed after fall at fraternity house
Briefly

Bandna Bhatti, a 21-year-old UC Berkeley senior, suffered severe injuries including a spinal fracture and brain hematoma after a fall from a fraternity stairway during Cal Day. After her friends took her back to her apartment, 911 was called seven hours later. Bhatti now faces paralysis from the waist down and requires extensive medical care. The Phi Kappa Tau fraternity is investigating the incident, while a GoFundMe campaign has raised over $90,000 to assist with her medical expenses as she was set to graduate shortly after the accident.
According to family members who spoke with KTVU, Bhatti fell from an external stairway at Phi Kappa Tau, a fraternity on Piedmont Ave., around 1 p.m. on April 19.
These injuries are not only life-altering but will require extensive and ongoing medical care, including physical therapy, rehabilitation, and specialized support to help her navigate this new chapter.
