The gardens of Allington Castle, typically inaccessible to the public, will open on selected Sundays in July and August to support the Heart of Kent Hospice. These days will feature activities like a treasure trail for children. The hospice, which depends on local donations due to limited NHS funding, needs to raise £6.6 million annually to assist terminally ill patients and their families. The castle, a historic site from the 12th century, promises a unique experience for visitors while promoting a vital cause.
As most hospices are local charities, including Heart of Kent Hospice, we only receive a small amount of NHS funding and rely heavily on local fundraising.
We need to raise the 6.6 million it costs each year to support thousands of people, as well as their families, friends, and carers living in our community.
By supporting events, including the Allington Castle Gardens open days, we can help our hospice to continue providing free end-of-life care and support to those living with a terminal illness.
The gardens of Allington Castle are usually closed to the general public, making this open day a unique opportunity for visitors to enjoy nature and history.
