Scheduled for May 4, 2025, the event aims to highlight economic and healthcare justice through the theme "Let Them Eat Cake: Ruined Riches." Attendees are encouraged to creatively deconstruct symbols of wealth as a form of protest. Proceeds from the gala support nonprofits focused on alleviating medical debt, with event founders emphasizing the importance of healthcare as a human right.
"The Debt Gala is a protest, a love letter, a fundraiser and a fashion show," said co-founder Molly Gaebe. "'Eat the rich,' but make it formalwear."
