The parish administrator discovered the damage on July 11, finding apples and glass scattered on the floor. Jo Sheppard, a church volunteer, expressed shock over the incident, emphasizing the financial strain on the church amid the cost of living crisis. Repairs are needed to restore the historic building, which has been in Market Place for many years. The police have cautioned the boys involved in the vandalism incident, who are under 18 and have been referred to youth offending teams.
The church costs in excess of 600 to run every day, and it is so hard to keep our head above water in the current cost of living crisis; this is just another blow to us.
