The Hospice UK campaign, supported by 143 hospices, is promoting the importance of leaving legacy gifts to sustain vital end-of-life care. These gifts are crucial for hospices like Noah's Ark Children's Hospice, which aids 350 families annually but faces a significant demand from a larger community. Chief executives emphasize the enormous impact of legacy contributions on sustaining palliative care services at hospices, especially as demand grows with an ageing population. Events like make-a-will initiatives aim to encourage community involvement in this essential cause.
Gifts in wills have enormous impact, Noah's Ark chief executive Sophie Andrews said. There can be no kinder legacy than protecting palliative care for our children.
This campaign shows the critical work we do and the lasting impact that gifts in wills can have to provide care, said St Luke's chief executive Lindsey Bennister.
Demand for hospice care in an ageing population is increasing year-on-year. It's never been more important to consider a legacy gift, however big or small, so we can be there for those who may need us in the future.
Legacies accounted for ten per cent of St Luke's' income last year, covering the cost of care for just 366 patients and their families.
