Fyre Festival revived? Viral botched influencer event sets 'second chance' in Mexico
Briefly

Billy McFarland, the notorious promoter of the failed Fyre Festival in 2017, has announced the launch of Fyre Festival 2, set to occur in Isla Mujeres, Mexico, from May 30 to June 2, 2024. Despite his history of defrauding investors, McFarland is optimistic about the event, declaring that he has spent years reflecting and planning for a successful iteration of the festival. Tickets range from $1,400 to $1.1 million, with vague promises of better arrangements. The first festival was marked by chaos, leading to McFarland's conviction for fraud and legal issues.
"I'm sure many people think I'm crazy for doing this again. But I feel I'd be crazy not to do it again," McFarland said on Instagram.
"After years of reflection and now thoughtful planning, the new team and I have amazing plans for FYRE 2."
In 2017, the first Fyre Festival advertised two weekends of a luxury music event on a private island in Exuma, the Bahamas.
McFarland was sentenced to six years in federal prison for defrauding investors of $26 million and has since been planning a new chapter for Fyre.
