Eight Sligo heritage projects share 111,417 in major funding boost
Eight community heritage projects in County Sligo received a combined €111,417 under the Heritage Council’s Community Heritage Grant Scheme. The scheme is an annual initiative that supports community groups, voluntary organisations, and non-governmental organisations to protect, share, and celebrate heritage locally. Funding helps groups continue existing projects or develop new initiatives that strengthen community engagement. Eligible activities include conservation management plans, conservation works on buildings and biodiversity sites, skills-based workshops and training, collections management, biodiversity initiatives, digital resources, and specialised conservation equipment. A competitive call in March generated hundreds of submissions showing strong public engagement. Funded projects must host an in-person event during National Heritage Week, August 15–23, to showcase work and engage the public.
"All funded projects are required to host an in-person event during National Heritage Week (August 15-23) providing an opportunity to showcase their work and engage directly with the public."
