Two officers killed and inmate on the run' after ambush on prison van in France
Briefly

At least two French prison officers have been killed after a van carrying a notorious crime boss was ambushed. Three more were seriously injured in the attack which occurred at the Inarville toll on the A154 motorway in Val-de-Reuil in the Eure department, Normandy.
Footage from the scene shows a hooded attacker in all black firing an assault rifle at the prisoner convoy, circling near an SUV that was in flames. One attacker was injured in retaliatory fire, a prison officer union boss said.
French President Emmanuel Macron expressed shock at the attack, promising an 'intractable' manhunt to find the perpetrators and ensure justice. The police indicated that the ambush involved multiple criminals using two vehicles.
The prison convoy ambush was described as a well-organized operation by a 'commando' group. The fugitive inmate, nicknamed The Fly, had suspected ties to Marseille's powerful Blacks gang, and a history of criminal activities.
