Ivan Romeo, a 21-year-old cyclist from Spain and part of the Movistar team, triumphed in the third stage of the Criterium du Dauphine, completing a challenging 207km course from Brioude in 4 hours 34 minutes. He outpaced renowned competitors like Mathieu van der Poel in the last kilometers to secure his second career victory and the yellow leader's jersey. Despite feeling unwell throughout the race, Romeo followed his instincts and demonstrated incredible determination, marking it as the best day of his cycling career ahead of an upcoming time-trial challenge.
"It was one of the hardest days of my life, I wasn't feeling well," said time-trial specialist Romeo. "But I followed my instincts in the final."
