An international arrest warrant has been issued against former Australia rugby captain Rocky Elsom, who was sentenced to five years in prison by a French court for misuse of corporate assets.
Elsom faced charges stemming from his tenure as president of the French club Narbonne, where he mismanaged funds, including payment of 79,000 euros to a former coach without justification.
During the court proceedings, the president noted that Elsom had also improperly hired an individual in Australia for services never rendered to Narbonne.
Narbonne, the rugby club Elsom led during his presidency, was subjected to severe financial struggles, leading to its liquidation and relegation in 2018.
