French sprinter Sounkamba Sylla, who was previously barred from participating in the opening ceremony due to her hijab, has now been allowed to wear a cap as an agreement was reached with the French Olympic Committee.
An arrangement was made for Sylla to wear a cap during the parade of athletes, in accordance with France's strict secular laws, which usually ban hijabs even for public sector workers.
Sylla expressed gratitude for the support received and the agreement reached, allowing her to partake in the opening ceremony of the Olympics, despite the initial conflict over wearing a hijab.
