The French social security agency URSSAF is ramping up its initiatives to tackle undeclared work, including cash payments and incorrect registrations by freelancers. In 2024, it reclaimed nearly €1.6 billion in social contributions, a 100% increase since 2022, setting a target of €5.5 billion by 2027. URSSAF is utilizing advanced data mining techniques, recruiting more inspectors, and strengthening partnerships with law enforcement to enforce compliance. Strategies also include activating financial penalties and leveraging AI and training for effective fraud prevention and detection.
