Former French PM Philippe's mayoral office searched in corruption inquiry
Briefly

The search was 'part of a preliminary investigation opened in December 2023 on charges of influence peddling, favoritism, misappropriation of public funds and psychological harassment'.
Philippe and his team 'stand entirely and serenely at the disposal of the prosecutors to provide all of the elements necessary for the investigation'.
French newspaper Le Monde reported the probe was targeting Philippe directly as well as some of his aides.
Philippe, seen as a potential candidate for the 2027 French presidential election, resigned as prime minister in 2020 and is cooperating with investigators.
