Eastern France placed on weather alert for severe thunderstorms
Briefly

On Tuesday, five départements in eastern France were placed under an 'orange' alert by Météo France due to expected severe thunderstorms. The alert indicates possible hazards, including hail, strong wind gusts between 80 and 100 km/h, and significant rainfall of 20 to 40mm within a short period. After thunderstorms affected central and eastern regions earlier in the week, forecasters anticipate more intense storms starting in the afternoon. Areas in south-west France may also experience thunderstorms later in the evening, prompting potential further alerts.
Five French départements were placed on the second-highest weather warning - the 'orange' alert - on Tuesday by French national weather service, Météo France, for thunderstorms.
Storms were expected to hit Tuesday afternoon, from 2pm, and into the evening, with forecasters warning that they could be accompanied by hail, wind gusts of up to 80 to 100 km/h.
