A WWII bomb discovered at Gare du Nord caused massive disruptions in the French rail network, affecting around 500 trains and 600,000 passengers. Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot described Friday as one of the toughest days for rail services in years. The 500-kilogram bomb, containing 200 kilograms of explosives, was defused by afternoon, with normal operations resuming progressively from 1700 GMT. Eurostar services to London and Brussels were reinstated, and additional trains were scheduled to accommodate affected passengers.
Rail services resumed progressively from 1700 GMT Friday and were back to normal on Saturday.
The bomb weighed 500 kilogrammes with 200 kilogrammes of explosives packed inside.
