Dordogne will host a full stage of the 2026 Tour de France on 11 July 2026. Start and finish towns are not yet confirmed, with Périgueux and Bergerac among candidates. The exact route will be revealed at the official presentation of the 2026 Tour on 23 October in Paris. The departmental authorities highlighted that the Tour generates tourism, economic activity and media coverage across the area. Dordogne previously hosted Tour stages in 2017 linking Périgueux to Bergerac and Eymet to Pau. In 2023 the race passed through 19 communes between La Roche-Chalais and Miallet, covering about 100 kilometres, and the Women's Tour finished in Montignac.
An entire stage of the 2026 Tour de France will take place in the southwest department of Dordogne. There will be a stage of the Tour de France in Dordogne next summer, the department has announced. The authorities have for several years bid to host a full stage of the race, and the southwest region will now host one from 11th July 2026.
The exact route will be revealed during the official presentation of the 2026 Tour on October 23rd in Paris. Announcing the news on social media, the department emphasised the overall benefits the stage will bring to the region: "The Tour is much more than a sporting event; it is a driver of tourism, economic activity and media coverage for the entire department."
