OPINION: A far-right President Bardella of France? It could happen
"Jordan Bardella has published a second book. An anti-Bardella official in the Rassemblement National comments: What an exploit by Jordan to have written more books than he has read. The book, Ce que veulent les Francais (What the French want) takes the form of a series of interviews between the young president of the Far Right party and ordinary members of the public, ranging from businessmen to police officers. Bardella omits to mention that almost all his interviewees are supporters or members."
"Bardella has just turned 30. According to all recent opinion polls, he is the runaway early leader in the race to become the next French President in 2027. He is credited with around 35 percent of the first-round vote two or three points more than Marine Le Pen might win if she were to escape her legal ban and run for a fourth time."
Jordan Bardella, age 30, is currently the early frontrunner for the 2027 French presidency with roughly 35 percent of the first-round vote in polls. Bardella published a book of interviews with members of the public that largely includes party supporters and omits explicit references to his party. Marine Le Pen faces a five-year legal ban related to embezzled EU funds and has recently shifted her public stance, indicating she will accept an appeals court decision. Other likely candidates from the Left, Centre, and Moderate Right poll at no more than 15–16 percent, and only one comparable early frontrunner has failed to win previously.
