How Pauline Ferrand-Prevot utilised an adjustable tyre pressure system to claim career-best second place at Tour of Flanders
Briefly

At the 2024 Tour of Flanders Women, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot made a remarkable impression with her career-best second place, thanks to the innovative adjustable tyre pressure system used by her team, Visma-Lease a Bike Women. After a quick adaptation period of just two days, she effectively employed different tyre pressures for various race terrains. This technology, previously utilized by Marianne Vos, allowed her to tackle the cobbled roads with lower pressure and switch to higher pressure during sprints, highlighting its significant impact on performance in competitive cycling.
"The tyre pressure system was good," Ferrand-Prévot told Cyclingnews after the finish. "I mean I tried it for the first time in training on Friday, so it was just two days to get used to it."
"Basically with the system you can choose between three pressures and the lowest pressure is the one I used on the cobblestones, the intermediate one was more for in-between sections because to pump again you need to push some watts."
