Gisele Pelicot's ex-husband tells court man convicted of rape knew she was sedated
"Dominique Pelicot, who drugged his ex-wife Gisele Pelicot and invited dozens of strangers to rape her over almost a decade, has told a court that a man who is appealing against his rape conviction knew she was sedated and came to their home deliberately to abuse her."
""I'm looking for someone to abuse my wife after I've put her to sleep without her knowledge.""
""They all knew, they all came with the same intention, he said. I always said she was sedated.""
Dominique Pelicot drugged his ex-wife Gisele Pelicot and invited dozens of men to rape her while she was unconscious between 2011 and 2020 in Mazan, Provence. Pelicot crushed sleeping tablets and anti-anxiety medication into her food and organized male visitors to abuse her in their bedroom. Husamettin Dogan, a 44-year-old married father and one of 51 men convicted, is appealing a 2019 conviction for raping Gisele while she was unconscious in her own bed. Pelicot met Dogan via an online chatroom and provided information that Gisele had been sedated and that men were being sought to abuse her. Pelicot is serving a 20-year sentence and is held in high-security solitary confinement; Gisele Pelicot waived anonymity and attended the trial with her son.
