France's feminist icon Pelicot to sue Paris Match for privacy invasion
Briefly

Gisele Pelicot, a notable French feminist and survivor of extensive sexual abuse, is suing Paris Match for invasion of privacy after they published photos of her without consent. Pelicot, who bravely waived her anonymity during her ex-husband’s trial, was subjected to years of abuse by him and numerous other men. Her lawyer expressed indignation over the magazine's actions, emphasizing that Pelicot should not be shamed but rather the perpetrators. Pelicot's courage has been internationally recognized, as evidenced by her inclusion in Time magazine's list of influential people for 2025.
Dominique Pelicot, her now former husband, drugged her for nearly a decade so he and dozens of strangers he recruited online could rape her.
Every time the intimacy of our client's personal life is violated, we will react and seek a court decision,” lawyer Antoine Camus told AFP on Thursday.
It was "shocking" and "disappointing" that Paris Match would secretly take pictures of Pelicot "whose ordeal was the subject of 3,000 pictures and videos".
