'Exceptional' dust cloud from Sahara sweeps Europe, says climate monitor
Briefly

Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service reported an exceptional Saharan dust cloud affecting southern Europe and moving northward towards Scandinavia, worsening air quality and exceeding safe particle concentration levels.
"While it is not unusual for Saharan dust plumes to reach Europe, there has been an increase in the intensity and frequency of such episodes in recent years, which could be potentially attributed to changes in atmospheric circulation patterns," said Mark Parrington, senior scientist at Copernicus.
Local authorities in various European countries issued warnings due to deteriorating air quality from the dust cloud, advising residents, especially those with health conditions, to avoid intense physical activities.
