Jack Lang said he first met Epstein through Woody Allen and denied knowledge of Epstein's crimes. Jack Lang knew Epstein for several years and requested favours such as use of Epstein's car or plane for himself or his family. Epstein founded a company in the US Virgin Islands in 2016, with half its shares owned by Caroline Lang. No US Justice Department files suggested either was implicated in Epstein's sexual crimes. Caroline described Epstein as an acquaintance and a generous sponsor and said she did not receive funds from a planned art fund. Epstein died by suicide in 2019.
