"It's a chilly weeknight in Palo Alto's Stanford Shopping Center, where just a handful of customers mosey by with shopping bags in tow, despite the mall's typical buzz. The frenzied rush instead is at Zaytinya restaurant, where the evening is just getting started. The 3,300-square-foot Mediterranean eatery celebrated its grand opening on Monday after a yearslong wait. Located at the former sites of the Macy's Men's building"
"Like neighboring Bay Area malls, the Stanford Shopping Center has stayed busy by distinguishing itself as a foodie haven, with a growing roster of restaurants that have opened this year alone. In May, the Peninsula mall gained Dumpling Time, the dim sum restaurant under the larger Omakase Restaurant Group, while the San Francisco-based Delarosa opened last month. Kappo, a 12-seat Californian-Japanese restaurant that's also under the Omakase Restaurant Group, is expected to open this week."
Zaytinya opened at Palo Alto's Stanford Shopping Center, occupying the former Macy's Men's building and LaBelle Day Spas & Salons. The 3,300-square-foot Mediterranean restaurant features Lebanese, Turkish and Greek flavors. The location marks José Andrés' first Northern California outpost. The Stanford Shopping Center continues to expand as a foodie destination, adding Dumpling Time and Delarosa this year and expecting Kappo and Cedar & Sage Bistro & Lounge. José Andrés operates multiple successful restaurant concepts nationwide and founded World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit that delivers fresh meals in areas affected by war, natural disasters and humanitarian crises.
