UC Berkeley will debut Oski's California Gold, a 4.8% ABV golden ale featuring a retro depiction of the Golden Bears' mascot, as the first official craft beer of Cal under a partnership with Bear Republic Brewing, now part of Drake's Brewing. The project followed a two-year exploratory process that drew support from across campus, including faculty. More than 3,000 six-packs will be distributed to East Bay grocery and beverage retailers and all Bay Area Total Wine locations, with sightings at Richmond Costco. Seventy-five kegs will go to local bars and Berkeley venues, and supplies will be available at Memorial Stadium for the home opener on Sept. 6.
