This Legendary Thai Town Shop Now Has Los Angeles's Best Roasted Duck
"Pa Ord established herself in Thai Town in the 1990s with her famed boat noodles, but the legendary restaurateur proves she isn't a one trick pony with the addition of Roasted Duck by Pa Ord, a strip mall spot opened in 2024 in the location of her original Pa Ord restaurant that centers around roasted duck. Each duck takes hours to prep from massaging in the honey marinade, to drying out the duck skin overnight, to roasting."
"You can spot golden, roasted ducks hanging by their neck and catch Lawan Bhanduram, also known as Auntie Ord, puttering around the kitchen. The roasted duck special is mandatory: It comes in a quarter duck single serving for $25 or half a duck for $35. Choose between accompanying jade noodles or steamed white rice (for those dining for two, get both). For something off the beaten path, try the spicy roasted duck salad."
Pa Ord reopened her original Thai Town location as Roasted Duck by Pa Ord in 2024, focusing on roasted duck. Each duck is massaged in a honey marinade, dried overnight to crisp the skin, and roasted after hours of preparation. Roasted ducks hang by the necks in the kitchen where Lawan Bhanduram (Auntie Ord) can be seen working. The roasted duck special is offered as a quarter ($25) or half ($35) portion with jade noodles or steamed white rice. Menu highlights include a spicy roasted duck salad with strawberries and apples, a wok-fired spicy basil duck, and fried pork belly with jaew sauce. Sweetened chrysanthemum tea is recommended. The duck can sell out before closing.
