These are Boston's first-ever Michelin Guide restaurants
"Restaurants can get one of the following ratings: bib gourmand (good quality, good value), one star (high quality cooking, worth a stop), two stars (excellent cooking, worth a detour), and the highest accolade of three stars (exceptional cuisine, worth a journey). Restaurants can also make the guide without receiving a star or bib gourmand recognition, known as recommended. Boston's part in the guide includes eateries within the Interstate 95/Route 128 corridor, a total of 27 restaurants."
"Only one restaurant was able to snag a star: 311 Omakase in the South End, which received one star. No Boston restaurant received two or three stars. As expected by those who work in and cover the industry, Boston fared better in the Bib Gourmand category, with 6 restaurants earning the esteemed accolade."
The Michelin Guide expanded to include Boston and Philadelphia in a Northeast Cities edition, joining New York, Washington, D.C., and Chicago. Michelin inspectors spent months evaluating Greater Boston eateries, with Boston's tourism arm funding their visit. The Boston listings cover restaurants within the I-95/Route 128 corridor, totaling 27 establishments. 311 Omakase in the South End earned the sole one-star award. Six Boston restaurants received Bib Gourmand recognition, nineteen were listed as Michelin-recommended, and Mahaniyom in Brookline won the Exceptional Cocktail Award while also earning a Bib Gourmand.
