The Revenge of the Niche Fashion Magazine
Briefly

On a snowy night before Valentine's Day, Cultured magazine hosted a vibrant party for its February-March 2025 issue at Quarters in TriBeCa. The event attracted a lively crowd, including cover star Cristin Milioti, and highlighted a growing trend in independent print magazines that merge the worlds of art and fashion. Founder Sarah Harrelson reflected on her journey from a creatively stagnant career to launching Cultured in 2012, stressing the importance of breaking out of formulaic publishing norms. With others like L'Etiquette and Polyester gaining traction, these magazines are now seen as valuable, luxury items that offer unique perspectives.
I think back now, and I was 38 and creatively bored. I wanted to do something for myself and not have to heed the rules.
It's a luxury experience of sitting back and getting a single viewpoint coming to you that you didn't know you wanted.
No longer seen as disposable or a relic of a dying industry, these magazines are regarded as high-end products.
There is Cultured but also L'Etiquette, Konfekt and Polyester, to name a few that line the racks of Casa Magazines.
