"We're sycophants for the Public House Group - we've been to all their venues and, quite honestly, we've loved them all. The latest one in Marylebone follows a similar formula to The Hero and The Fat Badger: a casual pub below and dining rooms above, with white tablecloths, roaring fires, country pub-style interiors, and elevated pub food. It's a true "gastropub," even if that phrase has become a little overused in the last 10 years."
"The menu at The Hart features familiar British pub dishes made with ingredients from British farmers, producers, and even fresh produce from their own Market Garden at Bruern Farms. The snacks are generous, so if you go heavy on them, you might want to share a starter. We enjoyed the sardines on toast - almost like a sardine ragu on a hefty slice of bread - and the Jenga-like stack of cheese straws."
"You'll want to have a drink pre- or post-dinner in the bar below; if you can get a spot, that is. Alongside some great British beers, there's a very good champagne by the glass (this is Chiltern Street, people): the Devaux Cœur de Blanc, a label we've spotted on the list at a few other great places lately. There's even a good orange wine by the glass from another of our favourites, Judith Beck, a pleasant surprise given the location."
The Hart is a Marylebone gastropub from the Public House Group located on Chiltern Street, with a casual pub downstairs and formal dining rooms upstairs. Interiors combine white tablecloths, roaring fires and country pub styling to create a cozy, sceney atmosphere. The menu focuses on British pub dishes using produce from British farmers, producers and the group's Market Garden at Bruern Farms. Generous snacks include sardines on toast and cheese straws; starters include smoked eel with celeriac. Mains such as kedgeree and steak with rich jus perform well, and desserts include banoffee pie. The drinks list features British beers, Champagne by the glass and an orange wine by Judith Beck.
