"Since the opening of Church & State more than a decade ago, Downtown's Arts District has undergone an incredible transformation. What was once largely an urban industrial zone has developed into one of the most sought-after and vibrant neighborhoods in the city. Now, the neighborhood is home to an inventive Korean tasting menu, one of the best bar burgers around town, and crispy-edged square pizza slices. Here are the best restaurants in Los Angeles's ever-changing Arts District."
"Seoul-based contemporary Korean restaurant Hojokban now lives on the West Coast. The restaurant, which first opened in Seoul in 2019 before expanding to New York in 2023, debuted in the Arts District on Thursday, November 20, with a menu of jeon (pancakes), galbi, and plenty of soju. The slate spans dishes like perilla noodles laced with perilla oil and soy dressing, the Hojok galbi painted with a soy glaze, and a salmon-topped rice bowl dotted with uni and caviar. Cafe Knotted, a South Korean cream doughnut specialist from the hospitality group behind Hojokban, opened its second Los Angeles location right next door."
"Camelia, a French Japanese bistro from the team behind Tsubaki and Ototo, has quickly become a new favorite among Arts District diners. The menu reads French with dishes like duck frites and a Croque Madame, but swaps in Japanese ingredients for French ones like koji on the roasted chicken and a touch of wasabi on a braised beef cheek. Co-owner Courtney Kaplan curated the beverage menu for the restaurant, which equally features French wines and Japanese sake. Every meal here should start with an order of the fluffy black sesame Parker House rolls."
