""Taco Bell Cantina brings energy. It's got an amazing culture. It's got an amazing following. It's young and vibrant, and it's something that just really showcases the brand and the community. It means a lot to us to be here or part of this revitalization of the wharf.""
Hundreds of people attended the official grand opening of the Taco Bell Cantina at Fisherman's Wharf despite the location having been open for two weeks. Free tacos, merchandise, and a DJ helped draw long lines, aided by a TikTok marketing push and an Eventbrite listing. Mayor Daniel Lurie attended the ribbon-cutting and celebrated the crowd. The event ran until 8 pm and lines continued after dark. A Redditor quipped that the crowd looked like it might be for illicit sales but instead was for burritos and alcoholic offerings. Franchisee SG Ellison described the Cantina as energetic and part of the wharfs revitalization, noting ties to more than 80 Northern California locations.
