An inaugural Taste of Hayward will take place Oct. 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. as a self-guided walking tour through downtown Hayward. More than 15 local restaurants will offer small bites and drinks, with sample items including pasta, sliders, ceviche, tacos, wings, momos and noodles. Participating venues range from longtime Hayward classics to newcomers and hidden gems, including Acqua e Farina, Buffalo Bill's, Golden Safari, The Bistro and Craft Pizzeria. Tickets cost $35 and can be purchased online. Ticketholders should check in at 3:45 p.m. near the City Hall fountain to receive an event passport with a map and addresses.
