Taco Bell will launch its Decades Y2K Menu on Tuesday, Sept. 9
"Taco Bell is reaching into the back of its virtual pantry and pulling out five discontinued items from yesteryear, such as Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos and Chili Cheese Burritos. The Irvine-based chain's Decades Y2K Menu, will go on sale on Tuesday, Sept. 9, although rewards members can already get one item, the Caramel Apple Empanada, through its app. This promotion is a throwback to a throwback."
"Taco Bell's first Decades menu went on sale for a few weeks last fall, bringing back five items from the 1960s, '70s, '80s and '90s as well as the empanada, which represented the year 2000. This year's theme is more tightly focused on the beginning of the millennium. The other two items are the Double Decker Taco and the 7-Layer Burrito. All are priced at less than $3 at participating locations, according to a news release."
Taco Bell will re-release five discontinued items as a Decades Y2K Menu beginning Sept. 9, with rewards members able to access the Caramel Apple Empanada earlier through the app. The offering includes Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Tacos, Chili Cheese Burritos, the Double Decker Taco, the 7-Layer Burrito and the empanada representing 2000. Menu items are priced under $3 at participating locations. The promotion features Y2K-themed watch and T-shirt giveaways with only 500 of each available. The app introduces a Crunchkin digital pet that grows as rewards members purchase Decades items, earn points and play mini-games.
