Founded in Stockholm in 2015 with outposts in Copenhagen and Oslo, Punk Royale built a reputation for avant-garde tasting menus and high-energy service, featuring theatrics such as caviar bumps, vodka chasers poured from a petrol can and chefs spoon-feeding diners. Chef and co-founder Joakim Almquist is opening a permanent Mayfair location after previous London pop-ups, retaining the concept as part performance, part dinner party, likely with a smoke machine. The Mayfair menu will be a tasting menu blending luxe and lowbrow elements—caviar, foie gras, chicken nuggets and syringe-served bites—paired with extravagant, unusual drink pairings. Opening date: 12 September 2025 at 6 Sackville Street, London W1S 3DD.
Founded in Stockholm in 2015, with restaurants following in Copenhagen and Oslo, Punk Royale has made a name for itself thanks to its avant-garde menu and high-energy service - think caviar bumps, vodka chasers poured from a petrol can and chefs spoon-feeding diners. Following a pop-up earlier in the year at Carousel, Joakim Almquist is now bringing Punk Royale to Mayfair permanently and it sounds like it's going to remain true to the original concept, aka "part performance, part dinner party",
It's a tasting menu set up at Punk Royale, and while we don't know the exact dishes that'll be served in London yet, expect luxe ingredients served in a high-low way - meaning caviar and foie gras as well as chicken nuggets and potentially something served from a syringe. Amongst the 16 courses served at the Carousel pop-up were caviar & Grey Goose vodka, lobster spoon, Thai green curry oyster and sunchoke tartelet.
That'll come with an equally extravagant and unusual drinks pairing, another Punk Royale signature. Speaking about the opening, Punk Royale chef and co-founder Joakim Almquist says, "We've always done things our way, and with all the love and very positive response from our patrons to a couple of pop-ups in London throughout the years, this just seems like the natural and exciting next step in our journey".
