"Anyone looking for proof the Bay Area has a sizzling food scene just got another data point. OpenTable has released its annual list of 100 most-popular restaurants, and six local joints make the cut. "Some lists are decided by critics, but not the Top 100 - this one is driven by diner demand," writes the booking site, which analyzed more than 10 million reviews to develop its ranking."
"Rounding out the list are four restaurants in San Francisco: French-inspired Gary Danko, the modern Hellenic eatery Kokkari Estiatorio, The Progress and House of Prime Rib. The Progress is a sister operation to State Bird Provisions, the creative restaurant that made (non-Asian) dim-sum dining a trend. House of Prime Rib, meanwhile, serves just that and was recently rated as one of the toughest reservations to book in the city."
OpenTable released its annual list of 100 most-popular restaurants based on more than 10 million diner reviews and reservation behavior. Six Bay Area restaurants made the list, led by Sun Moon Studio in West Oakland with a rare five-star rating and a Michelin one-star. SingleThread Restaurant & Inn in Healdsburg appears with three Michelin stars and emphasizes farm-to-table cuisine grown on its Sonoma County land. Four San Francisco restaurants—Gary Danko, Kokkari Estiatorio, The Progress and House of Prime Rib—also appear, with House of Prime Rib noted as a notoriously hard reservation. California had 18 listings overall; Texas and New York followed.
