SF Ferry Building announces new restaurant to replace an original tenant
"Hayati, a Mediterranean restaurant from restaurateur Kaïs Bouzidi, is set to open in the former Boulettes Larder space by the summer of 2026, according to a news release. Bouzidi is the brains behind nearby restaurants Sens, Barcha and Bon Delire. While the restaurant concept is "still in development," Bouzidi has signed a lease for the famed Suite 48, the news release said."
"In a more public battle, Grand Creperie was told the Ferry Building's landlord, Hudson Pacific Properties, would not extend its lease even though the French bakery wanted to stay. Bakery owner Patrick Ascaso even tried to alter the business model of the bakery by adding alcohol, a raclette cheese wheel and ice cream, in order to improve nighttime foot traffic. But Hudson Pacific Properties did not budge, citing its priority to make the space more accessible in the evenings. Grand Creperie closed on June 30."
Boulettes Larder closed at the end of July after being an original Ferry Building tenant since 2004. Hayati, a Mediterranean restaurant from Kaïs Bouzidi, has signed a lease for Suite 48 and is slated to open by summer 2026, overlooking the ferry terminal, 1 Ferry Plaza East and the Bay Bridge. Several other longstanding tenants left earlier this year, including Daily Driver and Reem's California after lease expirations. Grand Creperie was denied a lease extension by landlord Hudson Pacific Properties despite owner efforts to change the business model. New openings include Nopa Fish and Parachute bakery, with more restaurants planned.
