"We only got approved this afternoon and have 2 (two) days to prepare hundreds of croissants, pastries, kouign-amann, breads and desserts. We will do our best to make it unforgettable, the operators wrote this Thursday on Instagram. We want to see a long line y'all, down the entire plaza. We'll make your time worth it in sweets."
"The French Spot is an offshoot of a popular bakery of the same name in the Lower Nob Hill neighborhood of San Francisco. It is owned by Vincent Attali and Maria Zapata, who come with impressive credentials, according to Diablo Magazine, which covered the bakery's announcement way back in spring. Diablo Magazine writes: Zapata worked with chocolatier Jean-Marie Auboine in Las Vegas and was a pastry chef at Esin Restaurant and Bar and Social Bird Kitchen and Bar, while Attali has worked at Las Vegas's three-Michelin-starred Joel Robuchon and New York's Michelin-starred Daniel, among other high-end restaurants and pastry shops."
The French Spot will hold its grand opening from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 6 at 785 Oak Grove Road, Suite G-3 in the Oak Grove Plaza in Concord. Owners Vincent Attali and Maria Zapata bring high-end pastry experience: Zapata worked with chocolatier Jean-Marie Auboine in Las Vegas and served as pastry chef at Esin Restaurant and Bar and Social Bird Kitchen and Bar; Attali has worked at Joel Robuchon and Daniel. The Concord outpost will offer grab-and-go items such as croissants, cinnamon buns, laminated doughs, sandwiches, and pastries, with a larger focus on breads including baguettes, sourdoughs, and country loaves. Promotions include the first 100 customers receiving a free pastry, daylong discounts, and mystery boxes with possible $30 gift cards. The bakery completed approvals shortly before opening and prepared hundreds of baked goods for the debut.
