Review of FOOD at Schinkel | Berlin Art Link
Briefly

Food serves beyond its role as sustenance by engaging emotions and perceptions through artistic presentations. New dishes invite curiosity and reflection, leading to new forms of experience. Tactical elements in food art challenge traditional views, elevating culinary encounters to a performance level. Menus act provocatively in their simplicity, inviting deeper engagement. Creative installations, such as melting glaciers housing ingredients, provoke sensory exploration. This interplay between art and food urges individuals to reconsider the sensory landscape associated with dining, moving beyond the ordinary to the extraordinary.
Food's main purpose of sustaining us almost seems secondary when considering the spectrum of sensations and emotions that it makes us feel-transcending constructed boundaries through its affective and sensorial state.
Trying new foods and new dishes is fun because it opens your eyes. It can be a form of satisfaction that makes you question whether it is oneself or the ingredient that has changed.
The menus almost seem like a provocation. The simple names of the dishes do not allow my imagination to lead me astray.
Small, perfectly clear glaciers that slowly melt away imprison fruits, vegetables and the plastic fishnet wrapping used to protect them.
