"One thing I've learned is that LA likes a big à la carte menu,"
"Lielle's added value is to have something delicious that you wouldn't have ordered otherwise,"
Marcus Jernmark will open Lielle, a 42-seat restaurant in the former Pico-Robertson Bicyclette space on February 12, offering a simple four-course seasonal menu priced at $150 per person. The concept favors an intimate, California-centered experience rather than a Nordic tasting format, with capacity limited to no more than 80 guests nightly. Jernmark relocated his family to Los Angeles four years ago after tenures at Aquavit and Per Se and founding Frantzén and Zén, both three-Michelin-starred. Matthew Bowden from Providence joins as chef de cuisine. Early menu elements include a 36-hour proofed Rouge de Bordeaux bread, vendace roe with beer-poached Dungeness crab, and an artichoke and guanciale starter with black truffle and roasted-yeast vinaigrette. A sister restaurant, Marée, is planned next door later in the year.
