"Internal documents reviewed by the New York Times show that later that day, the New York Police Department began investigating her passing as a suicide, noting that she was "discovered in the shower unconscious and unresponsive surrounded by approximately (100) assorted pills." Burrell's cause of death was listed as "acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine," meaning the combined interaction of alcohol with stimulant drugs and over-the-counter allergy medications led to her death."
