"The Michelin Guide - the international dining rating system run by the French tire company - announced the latest batch of New York City restaurants to its directory today, Wednesday, October 15. This new group consists of 12 Michelin-recommended restaurants that are deemed as places that are good enough for award consideration, joining the batch that were announced over the summer."
"There's a bunch of spinoffs in the mix: East Village Vietnamese restaurant Bánh Anh Em, from the team behind Upper West Side's Bánh Vietnamese Shop House; West Village Spanish restaurant Bartolo (currently recommended in the guide), from Basque spot Ernesto on the Lower East Side; and Williamsburg Southern-leaning restaurant and bar Rose Marie, from Tex-Mex destination and Bib Gourmand-awarded Yellow Rose in the East Village."
"The nationwide Mexico City-influenced restaurant trend is represented by Comal on the Lower East Side and Olmo in Bed-Stuy. For high-end Japanese dining, there's the very recently opened tasting menu restaurant Muku, which took over the Sushi Ichimura space in Tribeca, that's now focusing on a kaiseki approach. Then there's omakase restaurant Sushi Akira on the Upper East Side by chef and owner Nikki Zheng and kaiseki restaurant Yamada by chef Isao Yamada in Chinatown."

The list highlights Mexico City–influenced Comal and Olmo, high-end Japanese tasting menu Muku in Tribeca, omakase Sushi Akira, and kaiseki Yamada in Chinatown. Other inclusions are Times Square Korean steakhouse Gui, Chinatown wine bar Lei, Cobble Hill Cantonese Sal Tang's, and Chelsea’s Markette.
