"After much anticipation, Mexico City's iconic churrería El Moro opens in Echo Park on January 29. El Moro's signature blue-and-white logo now beams brightly over Sunset Boulevard and Laveta Terrace in the longtime Patra Burgers space, which underwent a massive reconstruction over the last eight months. El Moro Echo Park is the second Southern California location for the nearly 100-year-old churrería, which debuted its first U.S. outlet in Costa Mesa's Mercado González in 2023."
"At Echo Park's El Moro, staff will box up freshly-fried, cinnamon-dusted churros individually or in boxes of four or one dozen, as well as the mini-sized variety. The menu includes a dipping trio from which one can choose chocolate, chocolate and hazelnut, cajeta, condensed milk, or a seasonal flavor. Al pastor and asada tortas also feature on the menu, as well as El Moro's spiraled churro ice cream sandwich, known as the consuelo."
"Though initially slated to open in September 2025, El Moro's opening was pushed back due to construction and permitting delays. Crews expanded the former burger stand into a new 1,500-square-foot restaurant designed by Nacho Cadena of Cadena Concept Design (founder of Cadena Concept Design). A mural by Los Angeles-based artist Ozzie Juarez sits on the side of the building, while the interior seats 30, with the patio accommodating 40."
