McDonald's will reintroduce Extra Value Meals on Sept. 8, bundling select entrées such as the Big Mac, Egg McMuffin, or McCrispy with medium fries or hash browns and a drink for roughly 15% less than ordering items separately. Prices will vary by location. McDonald's USA emphasized value and affordability and pointed to prior offers like the $5 Meal Deal, McValue menu, and buy-one-add-one promotions. The chain also brought back the Snack Wrap and a limited-time McDonaldland Meal. Q1 2025 sales fell 3.6% year-over-year amid consumer anxiety and geopolitical economic uncertainty, and franchisees are credited with implementing these initiatives to boost traffic.
The addition is extra indeed, as Extra Value Meals haven't been a part of the menu for six years. According to a press release, the Extra Value Meals will combine select entrées like a Big Mac, an Egg McMuffin, or a McCrispy sandwich with medium fries or hash browns and a drink, for a discounted rate. The chain says prices will vary by location but will be around 15% less than ordering the items individually.
"McDonald's USA is laser-focused on delivering value and affordability for our customers, and I'm incredibly proud of how our franchisees and teams continue to step up to make it a reality," said Joe Erlinger, President of McDonald's USA, in the announcement. Erlinger continued, "From the $5 Meal Deal to McValue and now Extra Value Meals, we're sending a clear message: we're here for our customers. McDonald's will always be a place where you can get the food you love at a price that fits your life."
