"Now, in a nifty move that feels like it should have come from the Bay Area, one anonymous customer created an app that shows the wait times for each of the three new Tennessee In-N-Outs. As this is the brand's Eastern-most territory, the lines are likely to remain strong. A New Jersey man even flew in to get animal-style fries when it opened."
"The Wait App, whose developer is still unknown, crowdsources wait times by real customers who are waiting in line and shows an estimated time for those who want to join. The way it works: if you are in line at one of the three Tennessee locations - Antioch, Lebanon or Murfreesboro - create an account and click "check in." When you receive your food, enter the amount of minutes you waited in line."
In-N-Out openings draw massive lines, with customers camping overnight, waiting hours in cold weather, and some traveling or flying in for menu items. Tennessee received three new In-N-Out locations, prompting strong demand across Antioch, Lebanon and Murfreesboro. An anonymous developer created The Wait App to show real-time waits for both in-person lines and drive-thru at those restaurants. The app crowdsources wait times by having users "check in," input their wait minutes when they receive food, and uses device location to verify proximity. A disclaimer notes estimates are not guaranteed and the app is not affiliated with In-N-Out. The app's creator thanked nearly 41,000 Facebook group users for using the app.
