I visited Dublin for the first time. My trip to the Irish capital was filled with surprises.
Briefly

Visiting Dublin for the first time revealed a city that is cleaner, kinder, and more accommodating to vegetarians than expected. The local tipping culture was notably more relaxed compared to American customs. Despite the prevalence of meat in traditional Irish cuisine, the city offers a surprising number of vegetarian options, especially when directly requested. Many restaurants were willing to provide special vegetarian menus or make adjustments to dishes upon request, highlighting the city's growing awareness and availability of vegetarian dining.
Many menus I browsed had lots of meat dishes and it initially looked like plant-based options would be few and far between. However, once I asked restaurant staff in person, I was surprised by how accommodating most places were.
As a vegetarian, I came in with pretty low expectations for the variety of foods I'd get to eat when it came to dining out in Dublin.
