Half Moon Bay has a new Victorian tea house, By the Teashore
"For years, the English Rose in San Carlos, an old-fashioned tea house, was where single mom and executive assistant Angela Pierucci took her two children to celebrate birthdays. Then, in 2012, the shop closed without warning. The emptiness she felt after learning about its closure turned into a dream to someday open her own tea shop, which stayed in the back of her mind, she says."
"Then, in January 2023, the name By the Teashore suddenly popped into her mind. She recalls taking the moment of clarity as a sign to move forward with her dream, she says. From there, she trademarked the name and started collecting furniture, decor and tea sets. Then, earlier this year, she found her location: a 1903 Victorian house on Half Moon Bay's Main Street."
"The menu includes a selection of loose-leaf teas, plus three-tiered trays with items like Earl Grey lemon scones, clotted cream and lemon curd. One popular breakfast item is thick custard-baked French toast with vanilla chai spice, topped with Chantilly cream and chopped walnuts, served with mango mousse, figs and bananas. The recipe is a special one - it's what Pierucci traditionally serves on Christmas morning in her household, she says."
Angela Pierucci turned the closure of a beloved tea house into a long-held dream to open her own tea shop. She conceived the name By the Teashore in January 2023, trademarked it, and began collecting furniture, decor and tea sets. She located a 1903 Victorian house on Half Moon Bay's Main Street and opened on Sept. 5 after five months of work. The menu features loose-leaf teas, three-tiered trays with scones and spreads, a custard-baked French toast specialty, a kids' menu and a la carte options. The interior contains personal touches sourced from her past home.
