Croatian village breaks world record with 3km strudel chain
"Two tonnes of flour and three tonnes of apples were used for the world's longest line of strudels baked pastry desserts in the small village of Jaskovo, organisers said. After very rigorous verification and counting I can announce that a total was achieved of 8,940 strudels, which means that's a new Guinness world record title, said Paulina Sapinska, a Guinness World Records adjudicator, after the measurement."
"During the village's traditional Strudelfest, the strudels, made following a regional recipe, were laid in line by locals and volunteers. They've been working so hard, said Monika Ivis, one of several thousand visitors to the event. They taste super. The strudels will be donated to various institutions, organisations and people in need. Jaskovo, 66km (41 miles) southwest of Zagreb, previously broke the world record a decade ago with a 1,479-metre line of strudels."
Jaskovo assembled 8,940 strudels arranged in a single continuous line measuring 3,136 metres, earning a new Guinness World Record. The baking used two tonnes of flour and three tonnes of apples prepared following a regional recipe. Locals and volunteers laid the pastries during the village's traditional Strudelfest, which attracted several thousand visitors. Finished strudels are planned for donation to institutions, organisations and people in need. Jaskovo had previously set a smaller record a decade earlier; the record was later held by Sisak with a 1,762-metre line of nearly 6,000 strudels. Strudel functions as a symbol of local tradition and supports rural development through event promotion.
