Chef Ray Garcia to Revive His Landmark Mexican Restaurant Broken Spanish in Culver City
""When is Broken Spanish coming back?""
""It is a neighborhood offshoot of Broken Spanish with the same quality, same passion, but with a community-centric approach in terms of food and drinks," says García."
""We plan to open Broken Spanish in 2026, regardless of whether or not Broken Spanish Comedor continues into the new year," says Garcia."
Chef Ray García will launch Broken Spanish Comedor as a residency at Best Bet Pizzeria starting in October, operating in an A-frame building through year-end with potential to continue longer. The residency is produced with Sprout Hospitality and will offer approachable modern Mexican American fare, echoing Broken Spanish and B.S. Taqueria with a neighborhood, community-centric approach. Best Bet Pizzeria previously closed in 2023 after five months. García intends to reopen Broken Spanish permanently in 2026 regardless of the residency's continuation. García's background includes leading the Fig at the Fairmont Miramar and a longtime desire to cook childhood barrio foods.
