Chain supermarket on the way to Tahoe to close prominent store
"Trips up to Tahoe will no longer be the same for many folks, with a notable grocery store visible from Highway 80 closing at the end of January. The store was often a last pit stop for stocking up on food, especially for visitors driving from remote parts on the east or west sides of the lake. The 34-year-old Raley's at 1915 Douglas Blvd. will close on Jan. 27, according to a Raley's spokesperson."
"The lease came up for renewal and after "careful review" of the store's performance the West Sacramento-based company decided to shutter the location, the spokesperson said by email Friday. "We want to thank our loyal customers for their support. While this location will close, our commitment to the Roseville community remains strong through our other stores," the spokesperson said. "We look forward to continuing to serve our customers at one of these locations and throughout our family of stores.""
Raley's will close the 34-year-old store at 1915 Douglas Blvd. in Roseville on Jan. 27 after the lease came up for renewal and the company completed a careful review of the store's performance. The closure is expected to affect about 45 employees; Raley's will attempt to relocate as many employees as possible to nearby stores. Raley's operates over 120 stores across multiple western states and continues to serve Roseville through other nearby locations at 4051 Woodcreek Oaks Blvd. and 6845 Douglas Blvd. The chain maintains a strong presence around Lake Tahoe.
