"The restaurant's namesake roti are a must on every visit. Paratha-style wraps - made with all-purpose and locally milled Grist & Toll flours and laminated with vegan butter - come generously packed with potatoes, turmeric-spiced cabbage slaw, and a choice of chicken curry, green curry shrimp, or roasted red pepper goat. The oxtail and peppers patty beautifully blends Indian and Caribbean culinary traditions. Pair the flaky, golden parcels stuffed with curry-braised oxtail and a green pepper sofrito with bright Fresno mango masala sauce."
"The honey jerk chicken meal includes a quarter, half, or whole chicken served with sweet-spiced plantains, jerk cucumber salad, and bara bread or cocobread. The sticky-sweet-spicy marinade is more viscerally finger-licking good than any fast-food contender. Whether seated inside or out, the mood at Bridgetown Roti is perpetually vibrant, filled with rich Caribbean colors, iconography, and textures. The restaurant's upbeat, genre-defying playlist is curated by Holmes's wife, Shanika Honeycutt."
Rashida Holmes opened Bridgetown Roti in East Hollywood in July 2024 with partners Malique Smith and Joy Clarke-Holmes after years of selling patties and roti from commercial kitchens, pop-ups, and home. The menu centers on paratha-style namesake roti made with all-purpose and locally milled Grist & Toll flours laminated with vegan butter and filled with potatoes, turmeric-spiced cabbage slaw, and choices like chicken curry, green curry shrimp, or roasted red pepper goat. Other highlights include an oxtail-and-peppers patty with curry-braised oxtail and Fresno mango masala, and a honey jerk chicken served with sweet-spiced plantains, jerk cucumber salad, and bara or cocobread. The dining room is vibrant with Caribbean colors and a playlist curated by Holmes's wife, Shanika Honeycutt. Aunt Vie's cod fish cakes were removed from the menu due to increased cost.
